PROGRAM DETAILS

Introduction

Human error is often identified as the cause of many accidents. However, it is the beginning rather than the endpoint in truly understanding both accident causation and safety performance. In this course, you’ll gain an understanding of human performance (HP) and its critical role for effective safety management and incident investigation. You will discover the five critical principles of human performance and learn to identify and differentiate between latent conditions and active triggers.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the evolution of human factors, its current scope and how it may contribute to addressing future safety challenges
  • Understand human error within the context of significant rail safety incident investigations.
  • Incorporate practical proactive error management strategies
  • Address human performance limitations that impact effective decision making and increase the probability of error occurrence
  • Identify social and group influences that shape human performance
  • Adopt a systematic human factors analysis method for incident investigations to better identify errors and error producing conditions

Training methodology

The training will be delivered by a tutor who possesses first-hand practical experience of training program will combine presentations with interactive practical exercises, supported by video material and case studies.

  •  Participants are expected to share their experiences by active participation throughout all parts of this training program.
  • Participant will undergo a self-assessment test.
  • Participants will be divided into appropriate teams for workshops & real cases.
  • Participants will walk-out with some specific tools.
  • A manual will be supplied which will support development of the Module by helping participants to structure the main acquired competencies.
